Cataract Surgeries

                                         PHACO EMULSIFICATION

Topical Phacoemulsification (Phaco), a surgery using only eyedrops, is the order of the day. It is very convenient and comfortable for the patient.

For 18 years, topical phaco without injection has been the mainstay of cataract surgery in this hospital.

Advantages:-

  • No injection no pad surgery.

  • The patient walks in for surgery and goes back home within 2 hours.

  • The person is not admitted and is followed up the next day and subsequently as needed.

  • Since 2002, we at Keshava Netralaya have performed more than 18000 such surgeries successfully.

Foldable lenses are implanted as per the needs and choice of the patient which could be for distance vision, near vision or both, that is, unifocal, multifocal, toric, etc.

                                Small Incision Cataract Surgery (SICS)

An alternative to phaco is Small Incision Cataract Surgery (SICS) with a rigid implantable lens which is also performed at the hospital.

The cost of this surgery is lower than phaco as it does not require the use of high tech equipment.

The results are as good as phacoemulsification in terms of visual outcome, but the patient may feel less comfortable due to the injection and complete visual recovery takes longer.
